It is used alone or with other medications (such as levodopa) to treat Parkinson's disease. It can improve your ability to move and can decrease shakiness (tremor), stiffness, slowed movement, and unsteadiness. It may also decrease the number of episodes of not being able to move ("on-off syndrome").
Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, lightheadedness, tiredness, constipation, or headachemay occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Hypersensitivity to bromocriptine, uncontrolled hypertension and sensitivity to any ergot alkaloids.
Before taking bromocriptine, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other ergot medications (such as ergotamine, pergolide); or if you have any other allergies.
