This medicine is used to lighten the dark patches of skin (also called hyperpigmentation, melasma, "liver spots," "age spots," freckles) caused by pregnancy, birth control pills, hormone medicine, or injury to the skin.
It can cause serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients listed.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: asthma, other skin conditions (e.g., eczema, psoriasis).
Do not apply near eyes, to cut, abraded, or sunburned skin, after shaving or using a depilatory agent; or over miliaria rubra (prickly heat)
Contain sulfites that may cause allergic-type reactions
Some products may worsen acne. If your skin is prone to acne breakouts, look for the word "non-comedogenic" (will not clog pores) on the label. Some products may stain/discolor clothing. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
