Empagliflozin is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Empagliflozin is also used to lower the risk of death from heart attack, stroke, or heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who also have heart disease
It can cause Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, or a metallic taste in the mouth may occur. A tablet may also appear in your stool.
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, severe breathing problems (such as obstructive lung disease, severe asthma), liver disease, a disease of the pancreas (pancreatitis), stones in your gallbladder (gallstones).
